In case you haven’t booked your charter week yet, now is the ideal time to do it, as you can still manage to catch a good price with current booking discount. But, you’ re probably wondering; what do I have to know when chartering a boat? These are the steps to follow while you book your perfect sailing vacation.
Which boat to choose?
You can have a look at our boat offers and availability on our web page. But, which one to choose? Firstly, you should pick the boat by the number of its cabins, according to the number of people in your crew. There should be at least one person with valid and accepted skipper license on boat with you; otherwise you will need to hire a professional skipper. The price also plays huge role for choosing the boat. The charter price depends on the boat's length and year of built, but also on the period you plan to sail, meaning that preseason and postseason are much cheaper sailing periods than the peak of season – July and August. Also, it is necessary to know that charter in Croatia lasts for 7 days, normally from Saturday to Saturday. In the high season charters normally offer exclusively Saturday-Saturday terms, but in pre and post season they are more flexible when it comes to chartering a boat for less or more than 7 days. Booking and payments
After choosing and confirming the boat for your dream holiday, and receiving the booking confirmation/contract from our side, normally 50% payment of charter price is paid within a week, and the rest should be paid latest 4 weeks before your boat embarkation. Your advance payment also means you have read and accepted our general terms and conditions which we send along with the booking confirmation/contract.
In case you will need to cancel your vacation due to higher needs (illness, impossibility etc.), you should send us a written request/explanation for the cancellation. Normally, the cancelation costs are calculated according our general terms and conditions as follows:
- cancellation up to 60 days prior to the start of service use - 30% of the cost of accommodation is charged;
- cancellation between 59 and 30 days prior to the start of accommodation service - 50% of the cost of accommodation;
- 29 days cancellation till the day of the beginning of accommodation service usage - 100% of the price of accommodation.
In case you have some objective reasons like the death of your close family member, accident with some grave consequences and similar to that, we are flexible to find the best possible solution to preserve your booking.
Also, if you find a replacement for the week you want to cancel, your obligations would be transferred on the replacement week. No matter what, we recommend you to buy cancellation insurance which includes cancellation service.
What else is to be paid?
Other ports charges and other marina fees, fuel costs, parking and crew health insurance are not included into the charter price.
You can also rent different extras on the spot or in advance: spinnaker / gennaker, outboard engine, Stand-Up-Paddle (SUP), Wi-Fi, Tablet, cockpit cushions, extra towels etc. The price list of all the extras can be found here and you can choose them directly on the spot.
Charter, technically, includes the accommodation on the flawless and cleaned vessels with full fuel tanks, the usage of the entire vessel's equipment, compulsory and wide (casco) vessel's insurance, insurance of the crew accident, house marina berth, and licence for sailing in Croatia, licence for the vessel's concession.
Personal property of the crew is not secured; therefore, we recommend that you create a special insurance policy for this purpose. Loss or damage of personal belongings or luggage are not covered by insurance, as well as the before mentioned insurance in case of cancellation of the contract.
Check-in and check-out
After you have booked and paid you vacation, you only need to be patient to await for your embarkation . We are waiting for you at the D-Marin Dalmacija, Sukošan, nearby town of Zadar. Our reception is near the piers 6 & 7. (more details here)
The official check-in on the boats usually starts on Saturdays from 17.00h, but the option of ''early check-in at 13 h'' is, in the form of an extra ''VIP package' in our price list', possible on request in advance because the number of these is limited per each Saturday. Official check-out, also on Saturdays, should be done latest till 9.00h as the boat should be checked, cleaned and completely prepared for the next client on the same day. It is also possible to return on Friday afternoon during the daylight and sleep over till Saturday morning in case you want full comfort.
What should I carry with myself at the check-in?
Like already mentioned, one crew member - skipper should have a valid license in order to steer the sailing yacht. All crew members need to possess the official document – passport or ID card because of the official crew list which we issue on the spot and which you need to have on the boat during your charter along with the boat documents. Crew list is usually made in advance from our side after you fill the online crew list link with the booking confirmation, so we can be more organized on the spot during your official check-in.
At the reception check-in, while doing papers with our staff, you also pay the tourist tax (must be paid only in Kuna in cash) and obligatory + other extras: transit log (obligatory cleaning of the boat), extras package, towels etc. You also need to leave the safety deposit (in cash or credit card preauthorisation) and its amount depends on the boat's type and size according our price list. The money from the safety deposit will be used only in case of minor boat damage. If everything is ok at your official check-out, we return this amount.
There is also a possibility of buying the non-refundable alternative deposit (deposit insurance) instead of the normal deposit amount for each boat. This amount also depends of the boat size and model and covers you from potential damages. You can check all details regarding it directly on the spot with our staff. After this part, we inform you about your possible embarkation time and official check-in on the boat with our staff before you will be able to sail out and start your sailing vacation.
How to plan my route?
Your route depends on your wishes and preferences. You will make the route according your own interests, depending on which vacation type you want to take (family/sports/party/calm), and also, according what you want to see and visit along the coast. Consider the time you will need to get from the point to point as you are on the boat. You should also plan at least 1 marina stop (depending of your booked weeks) in order to fill your boat with electricity and fresh water.
